Story

Hi there!

The Proudies Foundation has been and continues to be the most amazing support for Warrick since his car accident in 2011 that left him nonverbal, wheelchair-bound and with a severe traumatic brain injury.

Warrick was 19 at the time of his accident and had recently moved from Albany to perth to further his football career with Claremont Football Club. He was an integral part of the club and had the potential to be a future AFL Draft Pick. He remains a well-loved member of the Claremont Football Club and North Albany Football Club and community who continue to support him and his family. Some 9 years after his accident Warrick remains such an inspiration to his many friends and family who go to extrodarinary lengths to support him and raise funds for his rehabilitation and care.

As a direct result of Warrick’s unsuccessful court case for compensation, the State Government has implemented ‘no-fault insurance. This decision ensures that any West Australian who is injured in an accident where no-one is at fault will now have access to the Catastrophic Injuries Support Scheme which covers the injured person’s care and treatment.

Unfortunately, Warrick cannot access this scheme as the law was not made retrospective. Warrick’s funding has recently moved to the NDIS, which covers the essentials of his care, however, the family are still reliant on the Foundation to cover the remaining costs.

As a result of Warrick being in his own home surrounded by family and some amazing carers, he is exceptionally fit and healthy and although his progress is slow we remain hopeful that his efforts to communicate will become more consistent over time as his brain continues to heal.

I'm diving into the deep end and fundraising for a cause that's close to my heart. I’d appreciate any contribution, big or small.

Thanks so much for your support!

Proudies Foundation Inc

Warrick Proudlove was involved in a serious car accident on Friday, 15 July 2011 just north of Mount Barker on his way home to Albany. He was a passenger in a car that hit a horse before running into a tree, and was not covered by motor vehicle insurance (although thanks to him everyone is now). Warrick requires 24 hour care and multiple therapies, which doesn't come cheap and we need your help. He is slowly making progress which has been possible due to the generosity of our community - but we still need help. Please donate to keep Warrick's progress moving forward - we greatly appreciate your help
