Story
I will be attempting some kind of self-harm by entering the Busselton Jetty Swim on the 11 February.
I am raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Research Institute of Australia, which is an institute that aims to defeat MND by funding new research projects that aim to understand the causes, develop effective treatments, and one day find a cure.
If you don’t know what MND is (also sometime referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease), it’s the name given to a group of diseases in which the motor neurones undergo degeneration and die, this affects people in many different ways but will almost always lead to death within 18-36months of diagnosis.
There is no cure for MND and, as it is such a rare disease (approximately 140,000 new cases diagnosed each year), it is one of the less well funded areas of research.
